The Whitney Library
The Whitney Library holds over 30,000 volumes and more than 250 manuscript collections used by researchers, students, genealogists and others who wish to learn more about New Haven. Among the many interesting items in the Library collection, one can find a statement of assets and liabilities signed by Benedict Arnold and witnessed by Roger Sherman; the archives of Connecticut’s oldest synagogue, Mishkan Israel, the earliest of which are written in German; and town records beginning in 1649.
The Whitney Library has extended its hours to include Saturdays from 12:00 - 5:00.
