At the New Haven Museum, the Education Department is pivotal in reaching out to people of all ages in the Greater New Haven area. Each year, Pre-K-12 and college students visit the Museum to participate in interdisciplinary, inquiry-based programs that highlight various aspects of New Haven’s history, such as the Amistad Incident and the Quinnipiacs.
With the large numbers of underserved students in New Haven schools, the Department applies grant money to offer partial or full financial assistance to ensure that all area children have the opportunity to learn about their own city. When booking programs, please inquire about any possibilities for financial assistance.
Not only does the Department offer programs at the New Haven Museum, it brings the programs to offsite locations, including schools, senior centers and libraries. These outreach programs are integral in making the Museum a useful and accessible resource for all community groups.
We serve all schools in the Greater New Haven area and beyond, whether you would like us to come to your classroom or if you would to come visit the Museum in person.
