Description: Grandson of Laban and son of William Bradley Pardee, whose papers make up the first part of this collection (MSS 59), the papers of William Scranton Pardee comprise correspondence, legal and business documents, clippings, printed matter, and other records relating to Pardee's law practice, business activities, political career, and charitable, social, art, yachting, and other interests; together with genealogies of the Pardee and English families, family Bibles, and miscellaneous family papers. Included are account books (1898-1907) from Pardee's work as treasurer and director of the Suffolk Gas and Light Co.; much correspondence (1907-14) from his work as treasurer and director of the New Canaan Water Co.; and correspondence and clippings relating to his activities with the Democratice Party and his sponsorship of a corrupt-practices act.
