Self‐Guided Activities

Self-Guided Visits may be scheduled Tuesday – Friday. These tours allow you and your class to visit NHM on your own. A Museum staff person will greet your group upon arrival and provide an orientation to the museum.

A minimum of one adult per ten students is required. One adult per five students is preferred.

Please plan to divide your class into small groups (no larger than ten) while visiting. Each group needs to have at least one adult leader.

Activity Guides are available upon request. Guides are designed for both elementary and high school audiences and increase students’ learning experience in the museum. If you are interested in using an Activity Guide, please let us know when you schedule the program.

Current Activity Guides:

General Activity Guides are available for both elementary and high school audiences and provide a focused touring experience.  The following Activity Guides are available for students in grades 2 – 6:

  1. People and Places (focused on significant local people, events, and landscape)
