Description: The papers of this New Haven businessman include correspondence, diaries (1907-62), journal, newspaper clippings, photographs, and other items relating to personal and business affairs; correspondence, minutes (1870-1956), journal (1930-49), ledgers (1930-57), charter and bylaws, legal papers, canceled checks, and other records, of the Waltonian Club, of which Scranton was president; correspondence, minutes (1909-61), articles of incorporation (1909), membership lists (1927-49), treasurer's reports (1958-61), cashbooks (1915-61), printed matter, newspaper clippings, and other records, of the Connecticut Fish and Game Protective Association, of which he was also president; and correspondence (1920-55), circulars, advertisements, invoice books (1918-60), outside orders (1918-57), canceled checks, equipment specifications, and sales and other records, of Scranton Company, which sold power hammers. Correspondence with his sister, Susan (Scranton) Reeve, includes references to World War II conditions in New Haven.
