Description: At a time of evangelical activity among laboring people, this group was founded with the purpose of holding prayer meetings and Sunday services. The organization went through several changes in the late 19th century. A faction formed the Railroad Men's Reading Room Association, but dissension persisted until 1886 when the project ended. A second organization was formed in 1896 with a new building and widely expanded services, lasting until 1958. The collection contains records, histories of the railroad YMCAs in New Haven by Amos B. Hulen, photographs, and memorabilia.
