Creator: Helen Douglas Love Scranton (1879-1968); Frederick Lum Bennett (1877-1928)

Description: The collection includes the papers of Helen Love Scranton and Frederick Lum Bennett. All are concerned with genealogy in Litchfield County towns; the bulk of Scranton's work concerns Kent families and Bennett's addresses New Milford. Scranton was a professional genealogist who also did a partial study of her mother's family, the Prindles, which is included here. Bennett's work here is almost exclusively on his own family, with occasional research for Donald Lines Jacobus (1887-1970) in local towns. Additions to the collection include correspondence, diaries, newspaper clippings, and other genealogical materials of the Love and Alexander families, chiefly residents of Kent, New Milford, and Litchfield County, Connecticut. Family members represented include Scranton's father, Edward Gurley Love (1850-1919), and Henry Morris (1859-1950), Matilda Longworth (1820-1906), and William De Loss (1819-1898) Love; Frances Harriet (Love) (1848-1927) and Walter Scott (1838-1898) Alexander; and Sarah Burrel (Alexander) Murphy (b. 1878).
