Description: Born in Poland and a product of New Haven schools, Stanley Joseph Palaski was a reporter, editor, public relations director, public officer, and civic leader in New Haven. This collection contains the papers of Palaski and his wife, Helen Anna Piontek-Palaski and includes correspondence, biographical materials, obituaries, scrapbook, programs, newspaper clippings, many photos, ephemera, and other papers, chiefly relating to Palaski's career, activities in the New Haven Polish community, his brother-in-law, Mayor William C. Celentano and the Celentano family, and his wife's career at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. It also includes information reflecting his 21 years as reporter and financial editor of New Haven Times-Leader; duties as public relations director of US War Manpower Commission for the New England area and similar groups and war bond drives during World War II; his service for 28 years with Connecticut Liquor Control Commission, where he was executive secretary; involvement with Polish American and civic and political organizations; coaching of various sports teams in New Haven; and interests with state and national Republican Party and Polish American Republicans.
