Description: The club was founded by a group of New Haven women in 1897 as a piano duet club called the Four-Hand Piano Club. In 1898 the name was changed to the the St. Ambrose Music Club and the group was incorporated in 1922. Its purpose was to develop the musical talent of members and to stimulate interest in music in the city. The records include charter, bylaws, annual reports, minutes, yearbooks, records of the Catherine S. Winchell (first president) scholarship fund, notebook (1936-1938) of club president Mrs. Grant Blakeslee, programs, scrapbooks, and newspaper clippings. The club was dissolved in 1992.
