Description: Moore was born in Nova Scotia and was 16 when he moved to New Haven, where he would stay for the rest of his life. He bgan with a makeshift drum as a boy and eventually became a world champion drummer, wrote a textbook about drumming, and trained several local drum corps. He played in New Haven theaters for over 35 years and for more than 45 years was a drummer with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and the Second Company, Governor's Foot Guard. The collection contains Moore's autobiography and memory book; newspaper clippings, programs, portraits, and photos, relating to Moore's career as drummer; copies of his book The Art of Drumming (1937, 1964); medals and pins won chiefly for drumming with Connecticut National Guard and Governor's Foot Guard; and a recording entitled Ruffles and Flourishes in which he played a drum solo.
