Description: New Haven native Leo Kimball was active in aviation from his youth. After serving in the US Air Corps in World War I, he performed research at Yale University and proceeded to serve as the Vice-President in charge of research at the Fuel Development Corporation, President of the Kimball Aircraft Corporation in Naugatuck, and senior engineer at the Bureau of Standards in Washington. During World War II, he was Captain of the Washington squadron of the Civil Air Patrol. After the war he was an engineering analyst in the Jet Test Group of AVCO Corporation and in 1961, was appointed Dean of the Northeast Institute of Technology in New Haven. The collection contains personal and business records, photographs, and miscellaneous aviation material.
