Description: The son of German immigrants to New Haven, Welter attended Horace Day School and Hillhouse High School and served in the U.S. Army in World War I. He was the owner of the Lee Tire Company in New Haven and active in many Masonic Orders and veterans groups. The collection contains material from Welter’s education, including a class photograph and graduation certificate from Horace Day School (1907); Class Day programs, graduation exercises, and Senior Class Book from New Haven High School (1909-1910); and a student notebook from New Haven High School (1907-1910). It also includes photographs and miscellaneous material from the Lee Tire Company; photographs, scrapbooks, ration books, and personal items from World War I; correspondence and membership cards from the Masonic Order; and By-Laws and membership cards from the American Legion.
