Description: Founded in 1794 as the New Haven Chamber of Commerce, the name was changed in 1962. The records consist of minutes, committee files, financial records, history, and photographs; also Bulletins and other papers of divisions and committees of the Chamber, such as Manufacturers Division, Retail Division, and Sales Executive Club. Also includes records (1943-48) of New Haven Junior Chamber of Commerce pertaining to the World War II memorial. Includes information concerning New Haven History; the city harbor committee and its effect on the commercial growth of New Haven; immigration and education committees for new citizens; and industrial development organizations and projects such as New Haven Regional Planning Authority, Downtown Council, and a proposed shopping mall in North Haven, CT.
