Description: A native of New Haven, historian and educator, Mary Hewitt Mitchell was graduated from Smith College in 1897 and received a Ph.D. from Yale in 1901. Her papers include correspondence, drafts and copies of articles and speeches, and research notes, relating mainly to the history of New Haven and its prominent citizens. There are also poems, biography, photographs, and other papers of and relating to Carolyn Gorham Dickerman.
