Description: Correspondence, account notebooks, sermons, law lecture notes, poetry albums, clippings, memorabilia, and other papers, chiefly of David Daggett (1764-1851), lawyer, judge, mayor of New Haven, and US Senator from Connecticut. Of his fourteen children, four are represented in this collection: Leonard A. Daggett (1790-1867), merchant and teacher, of New Haven; Oliver Ellsworth Daggett (1810-1880), Congregational clergyman and professor of divinity at Yale University. Susan Edwards (Daggett) Dwight (1788-1839); Wealthy Ann (Daggett) Jenkins (1786-1860); and some of their children. Included are letters from David Daggett to Governor Chauncey Goodrich and from Naphtali Daggett (Yale President) to his son Henry.
